In the Primary School, Colégio Parque do Falcão uses innovative pedagogies to promote a successful future, for each and every one, in the face of the great challenges of the 21st century. We offer quality education and teaching excellence to our students, in a continuous respect for individual learning rhythms and styles.

The educational practices, strategies and teaching methods followed at all levels of teaching at Colégio do Parque do Falcão are based on the “Active School” pedagogy. We defend that children and young people are not passive recipients of information, but rather active builders of their knowledge and intelligence, and should play an active role in their teaching-learning process. It is through interaction with their environment, exploring and experimenting, reflecting on their experiences and discussing them with their peers and educational agents that children and young people “discover” and attribute meaning to the world around them, develop their intelligence and build their knowledge.

Primary School Educational Goals

Social Skills Training

Promote values and attitudes that allow children to learn successfully and become ethical, responsible and autonomous citizens. Children are recognized as subjects and agents in the educational process, whose unique identity is built through social interaction, influencing and being influenced by the environment that surrounds them. Four components are considered:

- Social Construction of identity and self-esteem;
- Independence and autonomy;
- Awareness of oneself as a learner;
- Democratic coexistence and citizenship.

Communication and Expression

Develop motor skills; know different artistic languages and learn to use them to express yourself, communicate, represent and understand the world; progressively develop oral language as an instrument of expression and communication and facilitate the emergence of written language; to know the mathematical language and some of its concepts (mastery of mathematics); introduction to English through a set of recreational activities (storytelling, didactic games and songs...), through which children develop listening skills, comprehension and oral expression.

Knowledge about the World

Stimulate curiosity, a taste for learning and discovery; raise awareness of the organized search for knowledge, through the process of questioning and scientific thinking. Development of positive attitudes in relation to others, in self-care, and the creation of habits of respect for the environment and culture. There are three components to this area:

- Introduction to Scientific Methodology;
- Approach to Science;
- Use of ICT with computers, robots and educational multimedia programs suitable for the age group.
